about

Following the success of their debut ‘The Siamese Ep’ Octavcat return with their second release ‘BiggerABit Ep’ on Blacknight Records. Octavcat’s unique and distinctive sound is as ‘quirky’ as ever; deep spacey electronics and crunchy processed breaks flirt with an altogether more sinister edge and a twist of humour.

Reviewed by Angryape - (www.angryape.com): The second release from London's Blacknight Records, sees hotly-tipped Octavcat follow their impressive debut with six cuts of essential, crunchy electronic mayhem which should delight any SKAM / Toytronic enthusiast.

The wobbly, off-key synths of early Plaid and the deeply sinister electro of Bitstream at their very finest, this is an immense release which positively glows with excitement, interesting sequencing and inspiring melodies. From their glitchy, hip-hop wired moments to serene, atmospheric beauty, the EP displays an impressive array of genre-hopping and tight beats. Why more artists aren't producing tracks so killer is a mystery.

Positively one of the finest and most surprising electronic releases of the year, it's a possible future classic in the same way Claro Intelecto's recent 'Piece Of Mind' gained such hysterical attention. So in other words, buy it before it's changing hands for ridiculous sums on eBay. The name to watch for 2004.
